SALUTE YOUR SHORTS

My best friend is getting married and last weekend I threw her a summer camp themed bachelorette party complete with mess hall dinners, camp Olympics, a nature hike, talent show, and bonfire with s’mores.  My passion for camp began early with The Parent Trap, followed by Meatballs, and the early 90's Nickelodeon show Salute Your Shorts. I went to my first sleepaway camp when I was 12, a 4-H camp in Washington State where we did polar bearing, campfire sing alongs, capture the flag, and arts & crafts.  While the other girls in my cabin were desperately homesick, I was stoked to be a part of the camp culture.  Nostalgic for those free-spirited days, I took inspiration from the aforementioned along with my all-time favorite camp film Wet Hot American Summer and an amazing camp resort in Wisconsin called Camp Wandawega to plan our weekend.  Whether you want to create a summer camp of your own or go glamping, I’ve got everything you need to recreate that outdoorsy summer spirit of yesteryear!

B-A-N-A-N-A-S!

What can I say about bananas? They are a hot item in the design world right now. Gwen Stefani taught me how to spell bananas and Rachel Zoe taught me how to complement with them. When Jonathan Adler came out with his banana line I had to snatch up an ornament to hide in my Christmas tree in lieu of a pickle, and upon discovering Flavor Paper's scratch and sniff banana wallpaper, I knew I had to have a kid one day just so I could install it in their room. Here's today's round up of my favorite potassium-rich picks...and for the record, I ain't no hollaback girl!
