Makes 1 Sandwich


  • 2 slices of crusty bread (I use an amazing gluten-free sourdough from Bread SRSLY)
  • 4 thin slices of French ham
  • 1 ounce gruyere cheese, grated
  • 1 tablespoon butter or ghee, melted
  • Olive oil for greasing pan & press
  • Fig jam or orange marmalade (optional)

Heat panini pan and press over medium heat. Brush one side of the bread slices with butter. Flip slices over and top each with 1/2 of the grated cheese. (Option to spread one slice with jam before sprinkling on the cheese).  Place the ham on top of one of the slices and form a sandwich. Brush panini pan and press with olive oil.  Remove the panini press and place the sandwich in the panini pan.  Place the press on top of the sandwich and grill until the cheese is melted and the outside of the sandwich is golden.  Slice in half and devour immediately!
